The Last Month of the Future

Art & Design

An installation with paper clouds and weather forecasts. Visitors are invited to remove the clouds, one piece at a time.

The Last Month of the Future invites the visitor into a sky inside the gallery. Visitors are invited to take silver fortune-telling devices home with them. Upon opening, the fortune-tellers reveal visions of the everyday future that have already past: weather forecasts for the month of September 2007 (i.e. the last month of the future). These are futures that have recently passed us by and the title implies the question, “Will there be more futures?” Here they have outlived their usefulness as visions of what is to come, but they are still shiny with the future on them.
